James Thomer is a musician, filmmaker and interdiscplinary artist based in Los Angeles.

His music projects include his solo project James The Fifth, composition for media, short films, and branded content, and performance as a session musician in various forms.  

His film and video projects include his short film Young Phil, a fake CBS pilot about the life of a young Dr. Phil; music videos (”Love Life”, “Blondie”); and countless other short form videos.

He completed his MFA in Music Composition/Performance from the California Institute of the Arts in 2023 and plays in a jazz trio nearly every week at Checker Hall in Highland Park.
